PATIO lab es un laboratorio interdisciplinario de la UNAM que vincula la geografía, la arquitectura y las ciencias sociales para poner el conocimiento espacial al servicio de la intervención social, la justicia ambiental y la defensa de los derechos humanos. A través de investigación, docencia y trabajo de campo, el laboratorio acompaña procesos comunitarios afectados por violencias de género, conflictos territoriales y violaciones graves a los derechos humanos, utilizando herramientas como la cartografía social y la arquitectura forense.
El rebranding de PATIO lab parte de su dimensión simbólica: un espacio íntimo, accesible y colectivo que funciona como puente entre lo privado y lo público. La nueva identidad busca reflejar su esencia como lugar de encuentro, participación y transformación, donde convergen la ciencia y la acción social en un entorno comprometido, horizontal y en constante construcción.
PATIO lab is an interdisciplinary laboratory at UNAM that brings together geography, architecture, and the social sciences to place spatial knowledge at the service of social intervention, environmental justice, and the defense of human rights. Through research, teaching, and fieldwork, the lab supports community-led processes affected by gender-based violence, territorial conflicts, and serious human rights violations, using tools such as social cartography and forensic architecture.
The rebranding of PATIO lab is rooted in its symbolic dimension: an intimate, accessible, and collective space that acts as a bridge between the private and the public. The new identity seeks to reflect its essence as a site of encounter, participation, and transformation—where science and social action converge within a committed, horizontal, and ever-evolving environment.
